For a copy of the State of Maine's Guidelines for Municipal Shoreland Zoning Ordinances, click here. On January 26, 1994, the Board of Environmental Protection voted to adopt these guidelines for North Haven. They are de jure the equivalent of a Town ordinance.
Parking:The Selectmen have enacted two new ordinances to regulate parking along the wall on Main Street between Mill Street and Smith Street. Motorists will be required to park within the lines (which will be painted as soon as weather conditions permit). The ordinance will restrict the spaces east of the fountain to compact cars. The second Main Street ordinance will restrict the length of time that vehicles may park along the wall. During the summer months, no overnight parking will be permitted. During the remainder of the year, there will be a 72 hour limit. for the full text of the ordinance, click here.
The Selectmen have enacted a new parking fine ordinance, which updates the fines for existing parking infractions, as well as establishing fines for the new ordinances. Sewer:The Department of Environmental Protection required the Town to amend its Sewer Ordinance to require sewer department customers to disconnect any cellar or sump pump drains from the sewer system and to prohibit any connection to the sewer system for any purpose but sewage itself.
