North Haven Challenges and Priorities

Airstrip: The Town continues to look for a suitable location for an airstrip.  If you have property you would be willing to sell or donate to the Town for this purpose, please click here.

Here is an update on these initiatives dated December 11, 2019.

On Sunday, August 18, 2019, the Select Board hosted a meeting to discuss the current state of the town and its future.  About 130 people attended.  Jon Demmons, Select Board Chair, opened the meeting. You may find his remarks here. Rick Lattimer, Town Administrator, ran through a series of slides and moderated a discussion.

The meeting focused on four initiatives:

      1. Airstrip: A town-owned, safe and effective airstrip.

      2. Public Safety Building: An improved facility for our Fire Department, EMS crew, and plow trucks.

      3. Congestion: Problems with traffic and parking in the village and at Pulpit Harbor.

      4. Waterfront Access: Improved access for both commercial fishermen and recreational boaters.

At the end of the meeting, people were asked to complete an informal survey. Seventy-two people responded, some with additional written comments. Here is a table summarizing the results:
